Social Media and The 2012 Olympics

So I actually found this earlier in the year while writing a research paper on the effects on social media on young adults. The ways that social media has evolved since the beginning is crazy. Social media was involved in the elections and especially as mentioned in the article below, in the 2012 Olympics. Advertising the events and promoting each athlete happened every day almost all day. A quick “hashtag” on twitter or status post on Facebook tagging the Olympics, the athletes, or the specific country, popularized the entire Olympics simply and easily. There was an even better site I found when researching but couldn’t find it today. It was about how Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, etc. started, what their mission was, and what they looked like from then to now. Check out the link below though, some cool information and stats.
